The Research and Application Center for Turkish-German Relations began its activities on June 21, 2009. Its aims and functions are as follows:
With its qualified academic staff working in all faculties, colleges and institutes, especially in departments that provide education in German within Marmara University;
a) To support the development of existing multifaceted relations with Germany, which has a special position in Turkey's European Union membership process, through scientific studies; for this purpose, to contribute to the intensification of academic studies between the parties, especially in the economic, social, cultural and educational fields,
b) To carry out joint projects with various funds and to present them to the service of various public and private institutions and organizations, primarily universities and other scientific research institutions, and to take an active role in their implementation,
c) To present the scientific studies carried out to the service of professional chambers and foundations and associations working for the public good, especially university-industry cooperation,
d) To conduct studies on the education of the large Turkish population living in Germany, especially the young population, which acts as a bridge between the parties, their integration into both societies and the contributions of Turks in Germany to Turkish-German relations,
e) To publish periodical and/or non-periodical publications that can be evaluated within the scope of SSCI/AHCI in the future regarding Turkey-German relations.
