AMBASSADOR FARUK KAYMAKCI MET WITH MARMARA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı was a guest at the meeting held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Marmara University European Studies Institute on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Students and faculty members from different departments, primarily the European Studies Institute, Faculty of Political Sciences, and Faculty of Education, attended the meeting.

The session chairmanship of the conference titled "Our EU Process and Opportunities for Young People" was undertaken by Prof. Dr. Halûk Kabaalioğlu, Founding Director of the European Studies Institute. Prof. Dr. Kabaalioğlu, who also mentioned the short biography of speaker Faruk Kaymakcı, also reminded the importance of Ambassador Kaymakcı, a diplomat who is well-versed in EU issues, being a Deputy Minister in terms of Turkey-EU relations.

After presenting some assessments on the current state of Turkey-EU relations in his speech, Ambassador Kaymakcı conducted a survey on Turkey-EU relations and the general perception of the EU on a platform where the audience could participate online.

The results of the meeting, which had a group of over 100 participants and was conducted with an interactive presentation by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, also drew attention to an important point in terms of Turkey-EU relations. The question measuring support for Turkey's entry into the EU, which was asked at the beginning of the survey, was asked again at the end of the survey. While lower support was observed at the beginning, after Ambassador Kaymakcı's information, almost all of the audience responded in support of the same question.

Marmara University International Relations and Academic Cooperation Office Director Prof. Dr. Nuri Tınaz, who was also present at the meeting, thanked Deputy Minister Faruk Kaymakcı for the successful cooperation within the scope of the Erasmus+ Program.
